About
I've been writing for as long as I can remember. In 1995, I entered a picture book I wrote in crayon into a Reading Rainbow contest. It didn't win, but it did earn me my first rejection.
As a preteen, I briefly considered becoming a Disney Channel star. Thankfully for everyone involved, I discovered I preferred writing the stories to performing them. Besides, Hilary Duff had already cornered the market.
In high school, I filled notebooks with poetry, short stories, and journal entries while reading everything Sylvia Plath ever wrote. It sounds a little goth in retrospect, but it was also when I truly found my voice as a writer.
I made one last attempt to avoid my calling by entering college as a psychology major. Before long, though, I was serving as editor-in-chief of Rockhurst University's literary journal and fully embracing my love of words.
Today, I channel that same passion into content strategy and copywriting, helping brands tell clear, compelling stories that connect with their audiences. Not a bad outcome for an English major.
